Our mobile-first strategy for NatureSpotter was led by building cutting-edge iOS apps, creating an efficient content management system (CMS), and establishing a robust machine learning foundation. Ensuring a seamless user experience across platforms while enabling advanced features that facilitate wildlife identification through both image and sound. By leveraging modern mobile technology and scalable backend infrastructure, we’re setting the stage for a highly effective, data-driven platform for nature enthusiasts.
App Features
NatureSpotter offers a comprehensive set of features designed to enhance the user experience for nature enthusiasts.
• Species Details: Access detailed information about a wide range of species, including their habitat, behavior, and conservation status, helping users identify and learn more about local flora and fauna.
• Multi-Facet Search: Users can explore species using a powerful, multi-faceted search function, allowing them to filter by location, habitat, appearance, and more, making it easier to find specific organisms.
• Geo-Spatial Data: The app integrates geo-spatial data, enabling users to explore species distribution maps and track sightings in real-time. Users can also view species’ ranges based on geographic location.
• Field Notes: NatureSpotter allows users to write and save field notes, documenting their observations and experiences. These notes can be shared with the community or kept for personal reference.
• Blog Articles: Stay informed with blog articles featuring insights on nature, conservation, and species spotlights, contributing to the ongoing education and engagement of the NatureSpotter community.
• Nature Near Me: The “Nature Near Me” feature uses geo-location to recommend nearby nature reserves, parks, or wildlife hotspots, helping users discover the natural wonders in their local area.
• Image Identification: Upload photos to identify species with the app’s advanced image recognition technology, offering a quick and accurate way to recognize plants, animals, and other wildlife.
• Sound Identification: The app also allows users to record sounds, such as bird calls or animal noises, which can be analyzed and identified using audio recognition, adding another layer to species discovery.

App Development
We developed sleek and intuitive user interfaces using Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, delivering a refined user experience. CoreML enables real-time machine learning directly within the app, enhancing its functionality with dynamic, on-device intelligence.
Machine Learning
Our machine learning capabilities are powered by custom TensorFlow models hosted on AWS SageMaker. These models provide highly accurate predictions and insights, integrated seamlessly into the app for tasks like recommendation engines, image recognition, and more.
Content Management System (CMS) & APIs
Powered with Java Spring Boot and PostgreSQL, our scalable CMS manages data efficiently. Angular drives the front-end, offering smooth integration with APIs for effective data handling and presentation.
Cloud Infrastructure
Hosted on AWS, the app benefits from a scalable, secure cloud environment. Firebase enables real-time data sync, ensuring up-to-date information across devices, while the infrastructure is optimized for performance and scalability.
